  Prebiotic sodas vary fourfold in fiber and two thirds contain artificial sweeteners

  A label audit of 108 US prebiotic sodas launched 2021 to 2025 found an average of 35 kcal, 5 g sugar and 5 g fiber per 12 oz can, fiber ranging from 2 to 9 g, and non nutritive sweeteners in about two thirds of products.

  Two federal bills would write ultra processed food into US labeling law

  S.5026 advanced out of the Senate HELP Committee 12 to 10 with a statutory ultra processed food definition keyed on industrial ingredient classes, while the newly introduced Food Labeling Modernization Act would mandate sweetener disclosure, front of pack warnings, and an official definition of non UPF foods.
